The Importance of Art Response

Tax dollars aren't wasted on art, music, or theater classes in high schools. Tax dollars are used wisely towards this great cause to educate students on the arts. Just because the arts aren't as formal or strict as other subjects, they aren't any less important. Art, music, and theater classes inspire students to be creative, think outside the box, and see the world in a different way. These things can't always be taught in traditional school classes or in training people to enter the workforce. Many people dis on art classes and the people who take them because they view art as a less important and more easy field compared to others. But without art, much history wouldn't exist, there would be less ways for people to express themselves, there wouldn't be decorations, and life would be less interesting.

If we look back at the history of mankind, there is much information known of it due to art work of ancient peoples. From cave painting to hieroglyphics, these pieces of art are what helped us learn about our ancestors and how they lived and communicated. Without art, we wouldn't have known as much about the past because all of this documented information would've been lost. Also, art tells stories and teaches lessons that are still very valuable to today's world. Some art forms teach about history, such as musicals like Hamilton and some paintings reveal emotions on past events, like Pablo Picasso's painting Guernica about the war there. So, it is very important to continue to educate new generations on all forms of art in order to understand older forms of it and to also create more art for the future.

As many know, art is a vessel for people to express themselves and their emotions. Without proper education on how to do this, then there wouldn't be as strong of a way for people to express how they feel. Also, many people are very interested in the arts, so if tax dollars are no longer spent on them, then tons of people would likely protest and riot. While I can see why some would want more tax dollars to go to training about the workforce, not all of the tax dollars should. It is very important to educate students on the workforce because it is very important that there are trained people to provide for our country. But, not everyone is interested in this way of life and forcing them to participate in it, rather than in what they enjoy, will lead to negative consequences.

Just look at what the world would be without art to decorate it. There would be blank walls, bland classrooms, empty hallways, and vacant houses. Without art, life isn't colorful or expressive, it is just there without any creativity. Without interesting works of art to actively inspire people, life wouldn't be as interesting and we would all be missing out. So, I am not saying that tax dollars shouldn't be spent on training for the work force, because they should. But, they should also be continued to be spent on the arts as well.
